The Subz Story
In 2010, Sue Barnes set out to solve a problem that disposable donations simply couldn’t.
When her daughter came home from school asking for donations of sanitary pads for underprivileged girls, Sue discovered that millions of South African girls were missing school every month because they couldn’t afford menstrual products.
Knowing that temporary donations could never solve a long-term problem, she began designing something different.
After developing three prototypes, Sue created the patented Subz Pants and Pads system — a washable, reusable sanitary pad that clips securely onto specially designed 100% cotton underwear.
Today, more than 200,000 Subz Packs have been distributed to girls in need across South Africa, helping thousands stay in school with dignity and confidence.
